The biggest flood recorded in living memory was, perhaps, that of 1898 which swept away the stone bridge on the "Abha na gCaorac" known as "Cúl a' Cheó". A steel and stone bridge now replaces it. The flood levelled a great many fences and carried away a few cattle and sheep as well.Collector – Patrick Dwane
