    count the warts and put the same number of pebbles in a paper and lay it on the road, and whoever picked it up was supposed to take them from you.
    A sore throat was cured by putting hot salt in a stocking and place it around the throat. Cures for the whooping-cough were to tie a goats ear around the neck or boil sheep's-manure in milk, strain it, and drink it but the patient was not to know what it was.
    Thrush was cured by the breath of a posthumous child for nine mornings fasting. A cure for a cold or cough was to slice swedes, boil them in salt and water and drink the water. To prevent cold after clipping the hair was to wash the head in salt and water.
    Tobacco water was used as a cure for skin-disease. Toothache was supposed to be cured by taking a pull of a pipe or to keep
