- (continued from previous page)A person born after their father's death was supposed to be able to cure a sore mouth by blowing the breath in the mouth of one that has the disease for three consective mornings.
Measles were cured by skinning a mouse and boiling it in milk. Then the milk was drunk. A cure for a sore throat was to get a piece of goat's ear and tie it round your neck, or to drink the remains of a ferritt's drink to cure a cough.
A tooth ache was cured by in your tooth or to get a piece of gutta-percha and put it into cold water for two minutes. Then put it into the tooth and you would never get a pain in it again.
A handkerchief put out in the air on St. Brigid's night was supposed to cure a headache.
Sore eyes were bathed in cold tea.
