  1. A Song (continued)

I tightened up my boots, my boyo

    (continued from previous page)
O! my name is Willie Ryan,
And my age is twenty six,
And my mind it is not easy,
    Until Snowball I will fix.
I will blast him with my pistol,
For I know he will not be found,
If I get a chance of Snowball,
I will nail him to the ground.
The morning I came out of jail,
    Remembered well it will be,
    When Courtney the police-man,
    He followed after me,
He followed me out the Ratheally Road,
With a garsún by his side,
The people said he was afraid,
And he took him for a guide.
He followed me out the Ratheally Road,
As far as Miss Henley's gate,
It was there I skelted across the field,
For a little bite to eat.
As I went in to a tailor's house,
    I was hardly sitting down,
When in comes Nolan and O'Brien,
    Like tigers from the town.
