Concerning that great battle,
That was fought near Mitchelstown. It was on a Sunday morning,
Between four and five o' clock,
The police and soldiers around Kilclooney flocked,
With revenge on their countenance,
Their orders being severe,
It was "informer" information,
That quickly bought them there. Crowley stepped in through the wood,
And the words he then did say,
"May God direct is to the best,
To-day we fight our way,
We are but three in number,
We battle for our lives,
We never shall surrender,
We will fight until we'll die. The shots came from the soldiers,
At every degree,
And Crowley and his comrades,
Retired from tree to tree,
