  1. Nowadays we children are told that we will never be as good or strong as our forefathers. Sometimes we are told about that our fathers and grand fathers did long ago
    The late Tom Aherne of Modeligo Fermoy was a very good runner and took many first prizes on different occasions for winning cross country races. Jeremiah Hurley of Currabeha, Fermoy, was a noted jumper and used jump 6 1/2 feet.
    Robert Prendergast known locally in Modeligo as "Fox" was a very good mower and it is said that he used mow two acres in the day.
    William Canning of Waterpark Fermoy and Richard Gayer of Modeligo, Fermoy, were noted stepdancers who took many prizes at stepdancing and were often appointed as judges in step-dancing competitions.
    Patrick Hogan, Modeligo, was a noted storyteller and his wit and humour attracted many people to his home on
