    Dandelion is used as food for chickens
    Nettles are used for turkeys and pigs
    Water-Cress is used like lettuce as food
    Herbs were used extensively in this area in former times as cures for various diseases.

    VEGETABLES
    1) Mint is used for dyeing purposes - eg for colouring sweets
    2) Celery is used for rheumatism
    3) Spinach is used as a blood tonic
