    old song that was made up by some of the inhabitants when a poor man was summoned for shooting a pheasant:-
    The chorus is:-
    "The poor man shoots for money,
    The rich man shoots for sport
    Where the woodcock crew and the pheasant flew
    In lovely Barryscourt."
    Some parts the land is boggy expecially behind the old castle for it is said that the tide came in there at one time. There are no hills and the rest of the land is good.
    There is one wood it is about four acres in size. It has no special name.
    Near Barryscourt Castle there is a well and the name of it is "The well of the Palm", a stream flows from it through part of the townland till it reaches the sea at Slatty Bridge.
