  1. One Sunday morning in the month of Jan. in the year 1933 he left his own house in a small boat to go up to mr. Patterson. All went well until he was off the north side of the Island where the sea was rougher. It became so wild that the boat turned over. Then he began to call out for help. Mr. Patterson who heard him tried to start his speed boat, but failed. Then William Walsh who happened to be walking along the strand came and called Paddy mac Carthy the Ferry boat man who went up to the spot as quickly as he could. He was too late, because Mr. Cummins had fallen from the boat and was drowned. Then the fishermen were sent for at once to try and find the body. They found it at eight o' clock and at half past eight
