- (continued from previous page)When the smoke blows down the chimney into the room it is a sign of rain. When the smoke goes straight up from the chimney it is a sign of fine weather. When the seagulls approach land it is a sign of wind and rain. When the rocks are purple colour it is a sign of rain. When the dust on the roadside goes around in circles it is a sign of rain. A rainbow denotes rain. When it is dark and if we want to know which way the wind is blowing we can wet one of our fingers, then hold it up and whatever part we feel getting cold first, the wind is blowing that way.
