  1. About a hundred years ago there lived in Fountainstown, Crosshaven, a wicked old man known as Pooka Daunt. At the time there was an outbreak of cholera among the people and many people were dying of it. Pooka Daunt would not allow the priest to come to anoint the dying. One day he heard that the parish priest of Tracton was coming to anoint some people in his neighbourhood. He got his gun and his dogs and with his working men watched for the coming of the priest. The priest came on his horse, when on his rounds, and returned home, and Pooka Daunt never saw him. In the evening he said to his men "That priest is not coming at all he was boasting when he said he would come." "The priest came early this morning said one to the men and went away at one oclock."
