- There are three Castles in the district of Cloyne. The only castle I know of is Castlemary. It belonged one time to Lady Mary Fitzgerald and that is why it is called Castlemary after her. During Cromwell's time it feel into the hands of the Longfield's.
This castle was burned during the Anglo-Irish War.
There is another house called the Castle House on the Cross of Cloyne. There is a dungeon in it, and no one ever found the depth of it. Some people say it was a murdering hole, long ago.- Collector
