- A peculiar cure for jaundice
Strip off the bark of a tree. You will find inside wood lice. Boil them in porter, strain and cork tightly the liquid, take a glassful every day. - Chilblains
Chilblains by washing the feet or hands in the water obtained from the trough of a smith’s forge. - Whooping Cough
Whooping cough or ‘chin-cough’ as it is more generally called here is cured in the following matter. As the first horseman on a white horse the following question
“Gentleman of the white horse what cure for the chin cough?”
Whatever his reply may be the child will be cured if the food mentioned by the water is given to it. This cure is very common and seems to have effect.
