- The townlands most convenient to the school are:- Garrickerry, Knocknaboha, Glensharrold, Glendiheen, Glenastar, Knocknagun, Ballinabearna, Ballyloughane, Glenagore, Knockfinisk, Baranigue, and Glownleharde.
Why Garrickerry is so called is not clearly known. It means either the "Kerry Rock" ? or ? the "Rock of the Gauldron"
Knocknagun is so called because long ago a great number of hounds used to meet there to go hunting. Hence it was called the Hill of the hounds. ?
Glensharrold is so called because a man named Harrold owned the place long ago and it was called after him ?. Some people call it ? the glen of the bitter apples.
Glendiheen got its name because it consists mostly of a very deep Glen.
Glenastar is so called because the river Daar flows through it while passing a waterfall.
Knockinaboha got its name because long ago tents were made on its for soldiers.
Ballinabeara got its name because it is a gap in the hills leading into the mountains.
Ballyloughane is so called because it is contained many small lakes.
