    On the twenty fourth of August
    All in the present year,
    Poe-Hosford and his bailiffs came
    Glensharrold for to clear.
    He came to evict his tenants
    And believe me he made sure,
    Himself and his cowardly bailiffs -
    With the sledge they broke the door.
    At first they came to Liston's,
    They thought the cash was there;
    And when they failed in getting it
    To evict they did prepare.
    The officer then arranged his men
    In columns and in fours,
    And the first one they evicted
