    After some time she appeared around Barnagh in different forms. When people used be saving hay she would appear as a greyhound and gallop through the meadows and knock cocks of hay.
    One night a man was coming home from Newcastle West by saddle horse. He met with the dreaded "Sprid". She jumped up behind him on the horse and went away with him as far as the end of Barnagh to a place called the "Tipp". She challenged him to fight there so the man said he would. They both jumped of the horse and started to fight. The man slipped in a cow's dung and fell and the weird Spirit
