    houses in those days. The raiders searched the house from top to bottom and in fact drove their bayonets through the beds but failed to locate the outlaw who escaped a fatal thrust of a bayonet which wounded him in the leg.
    Though suffering great pain he showed great fortitude in not crying out or making his presence known in any way. He often showed the wound to his friends afterwards.
    The name and fame of Daneen Dan Hartnett is still green and he is still remembered as a national hero in West Limerick ans North Kerry.
