of ten feet. One of the men struck a big flag and they got pick axes and crowbars under it to raise it up. No sooner had they done so than a terrific noise was heard on the hillside with the result that fellows down in the hole were hardly able to come up with the fright. They all made for home and were hardly able to do so. Some people crossed by the place the following day but the hole was closed up. This happened by fifty years ago.
