- There was a girl who was very kind to the poor. One day she was knitting for the poor, she slipped and fell, and the knitting needles stuck in her arm and it festered. She went to the doctor and her arm had to be cut off. She was so rich that she bought a golden arm. When she died she was put into a tomb, it was near Christmas, and there was a man who had no money for Christmas. He thought of the girl with the golden arm. The night was very dark and the man was living by himself. He went about ten o'clock. When he came to the tomb, he opened the coffin and took home the golden arm. He put it into the covert and went to bed, and he said to himself he would have a good Christmas. It began to snow and the window opened, and he heard a crying going around the house, it stopped at the room window and said my golden arm.
