- Long ago there lived two men, Mr. Scanlan and Mr. Enright near clounagh.
They were coming home from the Pike very late one night.
They saw a light in Clounagh churchyard.
They went over and they saw a woman and her daughter having the coffin of a woman (who had been buried a few days before) open on the ground.
They had the woman's hand cut off. They wanted it to work a charm on their milk as they could not make the butter. When that woman was alive she was able to set a charm to help people who had trouble in making butter out of the milk.
The woman begged the men not to tell, but before they consented they made her put the hand into the coffin and to put it back into the earth again.
The woman and the daughter left and they were never seen or heard of since.- Collector
