- There are many signs of fine weather. When the swallows fly high it denotes fine weather because when the weather is fine the insects stay up high and the swallows live on them. When the smoke goes up straight in the air it is a sign of fine weather. When the sea gulls from Bleach Lough to the Shannon it denotes dry weather.
Here are signs of rain. When an cat turns his back to the fire rain is sure to follow. A halo around the moon denotes rain. When the swallows fly low it denotes rain because when it is wet the insects stay down low and the swallows live on them. The dog eats grass when we are going to have rain.
There are signs of storms thunder and snow. A copper coloured sky denotes thunder. When there is a dead heat in summer it denotes thunder. When sea-gulls gather on the shore it denotes a storm. The fox barks in October we are going to have snow.- Collector
