    sky to blue a man's shirt, it is a
    sign the rain be cease and it will
    be a fine day.
    11. A mackerel sky is the sign of a
    storm.
    12. When there are suckers out of
    the sun (generally seen in the
    evening sky) it is the sign of rain.
    13. A rainbow in the sky is the sign
    of broken weather.
    14. The boding shepherd heaves a
    sigh. To see a rainbow span
    the sky.
    Winds
    15. Wind from the south is a sign
    of rain.
    Wind from the north is a sign
    of snow.
    Wind from the east is a sign
    of hard, dry weather.
    Wind from the west is a sign
    of good weather.
    16. If smoke goes up straight
    from a chimney its a sign
    of fine weather.
    17. If smoke blows down the
    chimney it is a sign of very
    bad weather.
    18. A white frost on the ground
    in the morning means rain.
