many adventures there also the most notable of them being the one with the "Giolla Deacair". A delightful account of this exploit is found in Dr. Joyces book, the "Celtic Romances".
The Kerwicks got possesion of the hill during the period in which the OBriens were Lords of Thomond.
The lands were later conferred on a Sir Thomas Standish. Oiche, a Munster King, was killed at a Knockainy fair. A second Oiche was killed at Knockainy by Angus about 2000 years before the Christian Era. The O Gradys got possession of most the lands surrounding Knockainy hill at the instigation of Fitzgerald, Earl of Desmond. The O'Grady's family still has them in their possession, the present owner being a Maltese.
