- (continued from previous page)it and they went to bed in the dark.
- There was a fairy-woman liviing in Newtown Co Cork and she was very wicked. She used to beat all the people going the road. One day she jumped into a trap-car in which a man was driving and he (he) struck her with a stick. She jumped from the trap-car in Newtown to Sporry in Effin. She went to the priest for penance and he told her to drain the sea with a bottomless cup. This she could not do so she went to the spot where she jumped to and drew out the shape of the cup and saucer on a stone and it is there from that day to this.
