    And lo! upon that moment
    God a miracle did show.
    From that severed head or body,
    No drop of blood did flow.
    Unmoved the heartless yeomen,
    Unmoved their leader too;
    And with their quick and ready sword
    The body is cut through.
    But still, no blood is seen to come,
    No blood is seen to flow.
    From that burning pile of Ireland pride.
    The plunderers quickly go.
    They go, but leave their mark behind
    Of ruin everywhere
    Around that sacred edifice.
    Where nought was heard but prayer.
