    in 1909 the village people started new fairs. They are held on the streets - five times a year - and in each month from September to January. They are mainly calf fairs.
    When farmers sell cows they give luck money to the buyers. They give about 6d to the pound to the buyers When a bargain is made the people concerned show their agreement by striking hands. Some buyers mark the cattle with knives and others mark them with paint sticks.
    The halter is given with a horse when it is sold.
    The fair of Knockarding was held up to about 40 years ago. It was held at a crossroads near Kilross The farmers used take as many cattle as they could to the fair.
