- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)be cured. There is supposed to be an eel in the well and whoever sees the eel will get whatever he will wish for. A woman stays at the well on patter day to give people the water to drink and they give her money.There is a well in Emly called St. Abbies' Well. It is said that a woman who was living in Emly went out one night at twelve o'clock to spread out clothes and she heard noise outside in Emly Churchyard. She went in home again and told the neighbours what she heard. When they came out int the morning they found a well and the named it after the patron saint of Emly who is St Abbies. People visit the well every year.
