- The ForgeA forge is a place where horses are shod. There are four smiths in this parish. Their names are Thomas Buckley, John Collins, Michael O'Brien and Martin McInerney. On a fine summer's morning when I get up I can hear the sound of a anvil because the forge is only about a quarter of a mile from my house. These smiths have a great number of tools which they work every day in the forge. They have a pincers, a vice, a hammer, a knife, and a rasp. The smith holds a red hot iron with the pincers, and the vice is to hold an iron, when he is going to rasp it.Philip Gleeson
