    Before going to sleep:-
    In the name of Our Lord Jesus Christ Crucified I lay myself down to rest, bless me O Lord, preserve and defend me and after this short and miserable pilgrimage bring me to life everlasting. Amen.
    When entering a house the visitor says: -
    God bless all here or God save all here and the inmates answer
    And you too.
    When a person sneezes you say God bless us.
    When (a) taking a pinch of snuff the person says
    May the Lord have mercy on the dead.
    If you thread a needle for an old woman with bad eyesight she would say
    May the Lord leave you your eyesight.
