    looked around and found that the bridge had been swept away and the flood was pouring out in the road.
    In many places where land was low the flood stretched about a quarter of a mile at each side of the river, but it was gone down next evening.
    A man named John McCarthy had a farm on the bank of the river in Bilboa. When he got up next morning he found his farm like a strand by the sea with gravel, even the ditches were removed. People were coming there for a week after to see it.
