  1. I lie on this bed as I lie in my grave,
Begging of Jesus my soul to save
Jesus the branch, Mary the flower.
May they both be around me at my dying hour.
As I lie in this bed to sleep,
I give my soul to God to keep.
If any evil comes to me,
    O Mary Mother waken me.
God bless this house from thatch to flower.
The twelve apostles guard my door.
Four good angels at my bed.
Two at the foot and two at the head.
    Four corners in my bed.
    Four angels round my head
One to watch and one to pray
And two to bear my soul away
Jesus, kinder Shepard, bless they little land tonight.
In the darkness be thou near me.
Keep me safe till mornings light.
