- Old SchoolsThere are in all districts traces of old schools or hedge schools as we call them but no once seemed to have definite account of there whereabouts. There was a hedge school in Redwood bog and there was another in Curraghaglass. They were mostly in backward places or on the mountains. The school master did not teach in the same place every day because he had to teach a big area. They used stones slabs or slates for writing.
