    Our Lord was being crucified the robin tried to pull the thorns out of his head and a drop of blood fell on the robin's breast and ever since it has been called the Robin Redbreast.
    Another legend says that it was a wren that betrayed Saint Stephen. Saint Stephen was being pursued by enemies and for safety he hid in a tree, when, a wren flew out from the tree as the Saint had frightened it and then the Saint's enemies knew where he was and they captured and killed him.
