  1. Festival Customs
The night before Ash Wednesday is called Pancake Night. On this night pancakes are made and a ring is put in them and whoever gets the ring is said to be married during the year. On the eve of May Day a branch is cut off a tree. This is called a Maypole. This branch is decorated with little bunches of May flowers.
On Saint Martin's eve, the tenth of November, a fowl is killed and the blood is sprinkled on all the door posts.
