- Ash Wednesday is the first day in Lent. There is mass on that morning at nine o'clock. The people don't eat much on that morning. They only eat a cut of bread and drink a cup of tea. They go to mass, go up to the altar and get the blessed ashes on their foreheads and the Priest says "Dust thou art and into dust that shall return". All day the people eat very little. There are no stories or expressions told about Ash Wednesday.
