- Local Happenings 3-12-'37 About forty years ago there was a most terrific flood in this locality. The heat was very intense during the day. In the afternoon thunder began to peal and lightning followed. In the evening it darkened so much that if appeared as night. Suddenly a cloud burst on the side of Keeper Hill and the rain poured like water out of a bucket bringing with it a piece of the hill.
Down the hill it came and followed the stream that passed by a farmer's house taking with it a part of the lodging house and a dairy with all its contents which belonged to Mr. William Clifford. It also took a horse's car from the same man which was brought down the river for a distance of two hundred yards.
It also entered the houses in Ballinouse which are situated on the banks of the river(continues on next page)- Collector
