- In this district people are loth
to begin work on certain days, for
example on a Monday. It is unlucky
to kill animals on a Monday. Friday
is the lucky day of the week to begin
work, to change from one house to
another and to kill animals.
The cross day of the year is un-
known in our district. Nothing is
known referring to potatoes. As a matter
of fact the people here do not sow
them until the middle of May. The
first twelve days of April are called the
"laethe na bo riabhaice." March borrowed
twelve days from April to kill the Old
Cow. When all the crops are gathered in,
in Autumn people drive in their geese
to eat up all the grains left about the
stubbles. That is what is called "Harvest
of the Geese."- Collector
