    The Countess of Ormonde is supposed to have been the last resident of the Moat, and we are told that a pine wood once covered the surrounding fields, but there are no traces of a wood having been in the vicinity now.     Brian Boru is supposed to have fought against the Danes at Ballinvara, a townland within a few hundred yards of Churchfield. This battle took place a few weeks before the battle of Sologhead, but all that would lead one to give any credence to the matter is the fact that a local farmer dug up a peculiar kind of helmet or headgear some years ago in this district.
