- The people long ago made bread from barm in the winter. They used to put the cake on ta griddle, and leave it for the fire till it was baked.
- There is a Griddle behind Paddy Ryan (Matt's) fire. When the people were going to America long ago they used to bake a big cake in this griddle, because they used get no food on the way. They used to put a cross on the top of the cake.(continues on next page)
