  1. My name is James Delaney,
    And my pen I'll take in hand,
    To write to you a verse or two,
    That you might understand.
    I been young and light-hearted,
    I carelessly rolled on,
    To amuse myself upon the bog,
    All with my dog and gun.
    Till one of those cursed traitors,
    George Ely called by name,
    Maliciously accused of me,
    The killing of the game.
    And when the landlord heard of this,
    The tenants he did call,
    For every man to pay the rent,
    Each man both great and small.
    My father being the first,
    Who went to pay the rent,
    He shouted out -
    "Delaney! I'm glad to see you here
