    that Paul had an understanding with a fellow student friend who was a priest in the neighbourhood, that if he (Paul) sent for him when he was about to die, his priest friend should hasten to him. The message went, the priest friend came, was admitted to Paul's bedside and then at Paul's request reconciled him to the Church and closed his eyes in death. His friend also, it used to be told arranged Paul's corpse in the Sacred vestments of the Priesthood and when leaving the Rectory tole the servants that Paul slept and was not to be disturbed for some hours. Meantime the Priest in question got beyond the reach of the Priesthunters
