“The following birds may be seen flying in the parish of Glengoole, Co. Tipperary...”
(ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)the parthridge, the corncrake, the snipe.
The swallow makes its nest under the eaves of the houses. The sparrow builds it in the thatch or in a hole in the wall. The robin builds its nest in a moss bank. The hen robin sits on the eggs for three weeks. Boys who rob bird's nests are told that their hands will cover with boils. They are also told that the bird will come and pick out their eyes while they are asleep.
When one magpie is seen, it is said that bad weather is coming.
When two are seen it is a sign of good weather. When swallows are seen flying low it is a sign of bad weather, but when they are seen flying high good weather(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
