   When the crows fly quickly through the air it is the sign of bad weather. When the cows are trying to get into the cow-house it is the sign of rain. When the dogs and cats are near the fire it is a sign of rain. When the crickets sing it is the sign of rain. When the rainbow is on the sky it is the sign of showery weather. When the soot is falling down the chimney it is the sign of rain. When the cement floors are weeping it is the sign of rain.

   When bad weather is near the birds they "headlong downwards seen to fall as if they felt the piercing ball". The cows are always watching the gaps when we are going to have bad weather. When dogs go in dark corners to sleep and cats go to the fire it is the sign of bad weather. When the sheep come down from the mountain top to the low land it is the sign of bad weather. When bees stay in their hives, and when the flies stay in the houses, and also when the crickets sing it is the sign of bad weather.
