One day the boss put him on a lighter job and he gave him the same pay.
This happened near Dungarvan in the Co. Waterford. My grandfather also told me that there was a wicked Protestant landlord living by the roadside in Co. Waterford too and every Sunday he used to put his men working by the roadside where they would be seen.

    SOUPERS
All the Ballybacon people are still called "Ballybacon Soupers." The people of that place used to go to the Protestant kitchens" which were numerous all over the country and they used to sell their religion by spitting on a statue for soup and bread.
There are descendants of soupers still in Clogheen.
