- Nail making was carried on to some extent in former days. The descendants of the nail makers live locally and are appropriately nicknamed the nailer. This man's grandfather supplied nails in bulk and for many years to farmers and others in the locality.
- Thatching was also done locally - we have families still nicknamed the thatcher" and in a few houses they still jealously find the "garsún" on little straw bundles which holds the scallops
