  1. (continued from previous page)
Not far from here there lives at a place called Gortavoher a family named Kiely. When one of the Kiely family dies or is about to die, horses drawing some kind or other of a coach gallop madly up the front avenue right into the back yard and then disappear. I spoke to members of the family who told me this actually happened within their memory, and that they often heard their father telling of similar happenings of years previous.
Close to Kiely's house people out late at night have often met a "Black Dog". It met them at a part of the Gortavoher road called, "Fox's hollow" and conveyed them to a place about a quarter of a mile further on, and called "An Geata Ban".
I know of one man named P Hennessy who would not go home alone at midnight by this particular road.
Another dog of a like colour was often seen near where the old graveyard in Galbally is situated.
