    Daniel O'Connell was at a dinner one day in London with a great number of noble men. And these men were his enemies and after this dinner they were taking a drink and one of the men put poison in Daniel O'Connell's glass. And the servant girl that was there was an Irish girl and she came from Kerry. She knew about the poison in Daniel O'Connell's glass and she said to him.
    “A Dhomhnaill Uí Chonaill, a’ dtuigeann tú Gaidhilg?”
