    thanksgiving for the favours received. They have to go round the Lake in bare feet no easy journey over rough and mire land once a distance of about 1½ miles then to make five rounds round the Churchyard which is overgrown with Briars & nettles (it is said no one ever gets burned or scratched) then five "rounds" of the Blessed well & finally five rounds of the "Slag" on bare knees & finish by kissing same.
