“The Hennessys and Hehirs were two great factions who engaged in many a fight.”
The Hennessys and Hehirs were two great factions who engaged in many a fight. One of the Hennessys was called "The Bully Hennessy". They lived in Lissycasey. The Hehirs who were always their opponents were natives of Shyan. Once, at the Tullycrine Races, they fought a great battle. Many of them were wounded both Hennessys and Hehirs but there were no law proceedings as it was not the etiquette of the thing to call in any outsiders to interfere. The "Bully Hennessy" went to America and soon the gang broke up. Tom Hehir is still in Shyan.(no title)
“Martin Reidy of Crossderry and Richard Spellisey of Scariff were two famous faction fighters.”
