  1. (continued from previous page)
The man said he would clear them. So the king gave him two bottles of whiskey.
The man went into the palace that night, and he put down a big fire. First he saw four men coming out the door upstairs, and they were carrying a coffin. He took no notice of them. He raised the bottle of whiskey on his head. Then they began flinging turf at him. "I have turf too" he said, and he began flinging it at them.
Then they flung the leg of a man at him, and it stood at the tops of his boots. He took no notice of it, but he raised the bottle of whiskey on his head, and began drinking it.
This continued for three nights after that. The fourth night he came there the fairies were gone and the palace was as good as ever, and he had the palace and all the stock for himself and he lived happy there for the rest of his life.
